HKUST START-UP NAMED TOP WINNER OF ALIBABA ENTREPRENEURS FUND/HSBC JUMPSTARTER 2022

After a series of intense pitching sessions, Gense Technologies, which was funded by the HKUST Entrepreneurship Fund ("E-Fund") and supported by the HKUST Technology Transfer Center's Technology Start-up Support Scheme for Universities ("TSSSU"), was named the winner of the Alibaba Entrepreneurs Fund/HSBC JUMPSTARTER 2022 Global Pitch Competition ("JUMPSTARTER 2022"). The team has competed with over 600 startups from more than 60 countries and regions worldwide. Gense Technologies, along with another winning team, is eligible for a total investment of up to USD4 million.

 

About HKUST Entrepreneurship Fund

The HKUST Entrepreneurship Fund (“E-Fund”, https://e-fund.hkust.edu.hk/en/index) is a HK$50 million fund committed by the University and managed by Technology Transfer Centre (TTC), to invest in HKUST start-ups, strengthen the promotion of entrepreneurship spirit and facilitate knowledge transfer. Since its inception in 2020, E-Fund has invested in over ten start-ups, formed partnerships with over twenty Co-investment Partners, and hosted a number of workshops and training sessions for our students, alumni, and faculty.

Gense Technologies (https://www.gensetechnologies.com/), a Hong Kong based start-up founded by HKUST alumni, offers an affordable and portable self-help medical imaging device for early detection and management of some of the world’s most expensive liver, lung, and kidney diseases.
